Innovation
Innovation explores new ways of thinking about businesses, understanding and addressing real-world challenges, and generating new ideas for improvement.
Our programmes have been developed in response to the need for a transdisciplinary approach to research. This approach focuses on problem-solving by taking into account academic knowledge and expertise across different fields, industries and businesses, and takes into consideration cultural and social influences.
There are numerous opportunities for graduates, with growing career opportunities for professional workplace-based innovators, applied researchers and change leaders.
"The way the world is going, we need more problem-solvers and action-oriented thinkers across many spaces. Regardless of your speciality or expertise, the skills and tools learned through these programme will enable you to adapt and influence your space."

About the faculty
Our innovation programmes are managed and delivered by Design Factory NZ. Design Factory NZ is a problem-solving and learning space, bringing together students, teachers, industry and community leaders to help co-create the future. We are driven by passion and a relentless curiosity to discover solutions.
We coach students and industry partners through human-centred design journeys, providing learning experiences that cultivate their skills as problem-solvers and solution-designers. We are proudly interdisciplinary – bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to learn from each other and create together.
Design Factory NZ is grounded on empathy and driven by the belief that ideas and solutions are improved when they are shared together - rather than held onto. We work with all involved people to understand the problem deeply, create ideas collaboratively, and test solutions together.
