What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
Though I mainly work in film, I enjoy working with students from all the disciplines in media arts and brainstorming ways to make their work as good as it can be. I often learn as much from their projects as they do.
Another of my favourite things is making connections between students who are then able to create a project that is greater than the sum of their separate abilities. This is a great way to build their portfolio and widen their network of practitioners.
What do you love about your area?
I love when the process of filming stops being a mysterious unknown for students and becomes a tool for self-expression. That’s when they start to approach their projects with passion and create work they are proud of.

What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?
Lately, I’ve been designing and creating sets for Riverlea theatre. I also like to collaborate on art projects with students at local primary schools. I fill the rest of my time making short videos, and other creative projects like painting shoes or making scarecrows and Christmas trees for local community exhibitions.
