What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
What I enjoy the most is helping people. Mine is a support role, so it’s my job to make things happen for others. As a result there is always variety, and as they say, no two days are the same!
What do you love about your area?
Design is the process of seeking to communicate good ideas. As the late great Tibor Kalman was quoted “If you don’t have an idea, all you have is style”. So for me visual communications, whatever form it takes, has always been about the pursuit of original thought and clarity of expression; with words and pictures, together and alone. It's a passion.
Tell us about your experience in the industry
I’ve allowed myself a fair amount of room to move within the creative industries, thanks to operating in a freelance capacity. I enjoy the freedom, trying different opportunities as they appear and are offered to me, moving between the likes of private and public art, interior design, publication design, exhibition design and curation.
What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?
I always like to have a design project going. Other than that, it’s one or a combination of travelling, cooking, eating, reading, writing, watching, listening, photographing, renovating, gardening, dreaming, and meditating.
