What it is all about?
This course introduces you to the food and beverage preparation and service industry. It provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare and serve food safely and identify food contamination hazards and methods of control. You will also get to experience student life at the Centre for Hospitality on our Rotokauri Campus. These two unit standards are the food safety qualifications recognised by councils, and the food and beverage preparation and service industries.Upon successful completion students can cross-credit:
- 6 credits towards the Certificate in Catering (Level 3) or;
- 6 credits towards the National Certificate in Hospitality (Food and Beverage Service) (Level 3).
What to bring and/or wear?
You will be working in our trainee commercial kitchens and will need to:
- Wear long pants,
- have covered-in shoes,
- have hair tied back, and
- have no facial jewellery or other jewellery on.
