Landscape Construction and Tree Work (Level 2)
About the programme
If you enjoy the outdoors and getting your hands dirty, then this is the programme for you. It contains three horticultural disciplines. You will learn skills such as growing and nurturing trees, learning to use equipment safely such as a chipper, while being the support crew for tree climbers. You will develop a variety of skills while working on a landscaping project from conception, design, planning through to implementation and completion; this includes concreting pathways and footings while working outdoors.

Number of credits: 27
Criteria: Students enrolled in the WTA programmes must still attend secondary school and keep up with their normal school work. The unit standards achieved in WTA will count towards NCEA Level 1, 2 or 3.
Duration of programme: 32 weeks, February to November.
Programme structure: One day per week (8.30am-3pm) during the school term.
Location: Hamilton Gardens Campus and at stakeholder partner sites within a half an hour drive of the Hamilton Gardens Campus.
Cost: Free to the student
Transport: To be arranged with your school and if applicable covered by WTA.
